More information
The Renaissance building that houses the San Luis, Buena Esperanza, and Fuente Agria springs is a prominent monument in Marmolejo. It is surrounded by charming gardens designed for the enjoyment of visitors. It also features a house where the spa doctor used to prescribe water for his patients. This monument and its gardens are listed in the General Catalogue of Andalusian Historical Heritage as a historic site and Asset of Cultural Interest.
In 1869, the waters of Marmolejo were officially designated as mineral-medicinal, which represented significant international recognition for the Spa. The quality and therapeutic properties of these waters attracted the attention of prominent figures of the time, including the Sultan of Morocco, Muley Dafid, Infanta Isabel de Borbón, the Álvarez Quintero brothers, and even the Spanish Nobel Prize winner Ramón y Cajal. The visits of these celebrities not only enhanced the Spa's reputation but also helped consolidate its prestige as an internationally recognized health and wellness destination.
